Originally a gift from Japan in 1912, Washington D.C.'s cherry blossoms have now reached full maturity and completely flank the banks of the Tidal Basin. The design of the Jefferson Memorial was inspired by the splendid domed Pantheon of Rome which was a highly favored architectural style of our third president.
